Aviation Women Inspiring the Next Generation (A-WING) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting gender equality in aviation, space, and defense. Our mission is to encourage, enable, and empower women of all ages to pursue careers in our beloved industry. Despite global shortages of skilled, highly educated professionals, women remain underrepresented at nearly all levels and roles. Leadership positions held by women, particularly in management and executive roles, remain disappointingly scarce.
A-WING aims to change this by creating pathways for job opportunities and hosting networking events for professionals. We also help newcomers identify scholarships, internships, mentorships, and their first (or next) job opportunities to support professional advancement. Through networking, social media, industry events, fundraising, training, and educational initiatives, we work to ensure fair pay and benefits for women in the industry. Collaborating with companies of all sizes, we foster an inclusive environment that brings more female talent into aerospace and expands their roles across the field.
Our outreach extends to charitable initiatives for youth, providing mentorship, face-to-face interaction, and hands-on experience. We participate in events like EAA Camp Week, speak at school and university career days, and host industry interactive days nationwide in partnership with local aerospace corporations. At the annual EAA Fly-In at Oshkosh (OSH), A-WING engages with young aviation, space, and defense enthusiasts through educational speaking panels, hands-on workshops, and programs that inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals.
Founded by experienced aviation professionals, A-WING focuses on supporting women in non-traditional aviation roles, such as aircraft and engine financing, sales and leasing, manufacturing, supply chain management, aftermarket services, MRO, airport design and construction, legal and financial services, product management, and many more. Our leadership team consists of female business owners, executives, and vice presidents committed to creating a solutions-driven global network. Together, we aim to shift the industry’s focus and reduce gender biases to ensure equal pay, benefits, and opportunities for women—from young aspirants to seasoned professionals.
